Project Description
Champion Steel Concept continues to innovate in durable entrance solutions by integrating functional industrial materials into aesthetically pleasing designs. This single-leaf chequer-plate door exemplifies our ability to produce strong, low-maintenance access points that withstand frequent use, weather exposure, and potential security threats common in Nigerian urban and suburban settings.
Key Design & Construction Features:
Infill Material: Raised diamond-pattern chequer plate (typically 2.5–3 mm thick aluminum or galvanized steel sheet) inset into three large recessed panels. The tread pattern not only adds visual texture and a contemporary industrial-modern appeal but also significantly increases panel stiffness, resistance to denting/buckling, and slip prevention (useful if used in wet or oily environments).
Frame & Structure: Robust perimeter frame constructed from heavy-gauge mild steel RHS/SHS sections (e.g., 50×50 mm or 60×40 mm), with internal reinforcement ribs behind each panel to prevent warping and ensure long-term flatness. Full-penetration welding throughout for maximum joint integrity.
Recessed Panel Detailing: Clean, pressed or fabricated recesses create depth and shadow lines that enhance perceived quality and reduce the visual bulk of a flat-plate door, making it suitable for both utilitarian and semi-architectural applications.
Hardware Preparation: Heavy-duty welded hinges (visible barrel or concealed options), multi-point latching system with reinforced strike plates, and provisions for high-security locks, panic hardware, or closers. Door shown on temporary fabrication stands for final inspection and photography.
Surface & Finish: Thorough surface preparation (degreasing, shot-blasting or sanding), followed by high-quality zinc-rich primer in light beige/cream tone. This base coat provides excellent corrosion protection in Abuja's humid, dusty, and rainy climate while serving as an ideal substrate for final polyester powder coating, automotive-grade paint, or color-matching to client specifications (e.g., RAL shades to blend with building facades).
Applications & Advantages:
Perfect for main entrances to shops, generator rooms, storage areas, backyard compounds, site offices, schools, clinics, or any location requiring better security and durability than standard hollow-core or lightweight doors. The chequer-plate infill offers inherent resistance to tools (harder to cut or pry), improved sound deadening, and easier cleaning compared to open-bar grilles. It also allows for future upgrades like viewing panels, ventilation louvers, or access control integration.
