ChampionSteel Concept designed and installed this versatile steel canopy for a residential backyard in Abuja. The structure serves multiple purposes — acting as both a carport for vehicle parking and a covered outdoor kitchen/utility area where the client can comfortably cook, store items, and relax outdoors.
The canopy features a clean, industrial-style black steel frame with well-engineered trusses that create a wide, column-free span. The roof is covered with durable corrugated sheets that effectively shed rainwater while providing excellent shade from the sun. The open-sided design allows good airflow and natural light, making the space pleasant to use even during hot afternoons.
Visible in the image are the practical elements the client uses daily: a traditional charcoal stove (for local cooking), storage cabinets, gas cylinder, plastic chair, and various kitchen utensils — all comfortably protected under the steel canopy.
Materials & Craftsmanship Highlights

Main Frame: Heavy-gauge mild steel beams and trusses, precisely welded for maximum strength and rigidity.
Roofing: High-quality corrugated zinc or aluminum sheets installed with proper slope for efficient water drainage.
Finish: Durable black industrial paint or powder coating over anti-corrosion primer, chosen to withstand Abuja’s intense sunlight, rain, and humidity with minimal maintenance.
Support System: Securely anchored to the existing building wall on one side and supported by steel posts on the other, ensuring long-term stability even during heavy rain or wind.

Fabrication & Installation Process
We conducted a site survey to determine the exact dimensions, required span, and attachment points to the building. The steel framework was fabricated in our workshop, transported to site, and professionally erected with precise leveling. The roofing sheets were then installed with proper overlaps and sealing to guarantee waterproof performance.
